Incorporated in 2001, SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited (“SunTrust Atlantic”), formerly known as SunTrust Oil, is a dynamic energy exploration and production company focused on the West African subregion, with a strategic emphasis on the Gulf of Guinea.
Our operations are anchored in responsible energy development, leveraging both technical expertise and regional insights to contribute meaningfully to Africa's energy landscape.
Since 2003, SunTrust Atlantic has been an active participant in Nigeria's upstream oil and gas sector. The company was awarded participating interests by the Federal Government of Nigeria in Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) 22, formerly OML 56 (Umusadege Field), and more recently in Petroleum Prospecting License (PPL) 202 (Egbolom Field).
In 2008, in partnership with our joint venture operator, SunTrust Atlantic commenced oil production from the Umusadege Field. This field continues to be a key contributor to our production profile, with a multi-well drilling campaign currently underway aimed at significantly increasing oil and gas output.
In April 2024, we achieved a major milestone by attaining first oil from the Egbolom Field. Full field development activities have since commenced, with current production levels at 2,500 barrels of oil per day (bopd). This marks an important step in expanding our reserves base and strengthening our position in Nigeria’s energy sector. At SunTrust Atlantic, we remain committed to sustainable growth, operational excellence, and delivering long-term value to our stakeholders and host communities.

In over two decades of committed operations, SunTrust Atlantic has grown into a trusted energy exploration and production company focused on West Africa.
SunTrust was awarded a 40% interest in Oil Prospecting License 56 (Umusadege).
Commissioned Umusadege field and commenced production of approximately 3,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
SunTrust was awarded participating interest in Niger Delta field, Egbolom.
Member of winning Swamp-5 consortium in the 2014 Marginal Field Bid Round. Commissioned the Umusadege Early Production Facility (EPF) with capacity for 10,000,000 scf/day of gas.
SunTrust completed the gas lift project on the Umusadege flow station to enhance field productivity.
SunTrust acquired its 2022 PPL award and began technical studies on the Egbolom field.
Egbolom field commenced production in April 2024, with a current production capacity of 2,500 bopd and ongoing development efforts.
